Dr. Huxtable Nike Dunk SB

If you're looking for something very unique and colorful to add to your sneaker collection, the Dr. Huxtable Nike Dunk High SB is the must have.
Most of us can remember Bill Cosby as Dr. Huxtable and all of his crazy color wool sweaters. Nike has actually used wool material in combination with the original leather design to create this Dunk SB.
This shoe is sure to turn heads. The Dunk is a classic shoe, and this crazy, colorful design just jumps out at you. This was a February Quickstrike, so if you would like a pair, search fast. These won't stay on the market too long.

Nike Air Max 2009

With nice weather upon us, running season is right along with it. The Nike Air Max 2009 offers great cushioning and a smooth ride through the Air Max 360 sole unit. Combining to the 360 air technology, Nike has added a full length cushlon midsole to absorb more shock and protect against too much impact on the full air unit.

The shoe is also very lightweight, using the flywire technology made popular by a wide variety of Nike basketball shoes that released this winter. The flywire also allows for decent breathability. It is almost perfect for spring weather. It is not as breathable as mesh, allowing for some warmth during those cold and rainy spring days.

The shoe is made for neutral or underpronator foot types. A majority of runners have a neutral foot type, which means that generally they have a normal arch and they strike on their heel first and roll directly forward dispersing the impact evenly throughout the forefoot. On the other hand, someone with a very high, rigid arch, is more than likely going to be an underpronator, also known as a supinator. This foot type restricts most of the pressure and impact to the outermost edges of the foot.

For those runners who like a stylish without sacrificing good running technology, this may be the shoe for you. The Air Max 2009 also is equipped with Nike+ technology to help motivate you to really get into your workouts.

Air Jordan Retro II

The highly anticipated Air Jordan Retro II (white and silver) will finally hit stores tomorrow (Feb 27). The shoe, originally set to release in January has moved release dates once or twice, and collectors have been on the edge trying to get their hands on these.

The reflective 3M material, very popular from the AJ IX, adds a little more flavor to the simple white and silver colorway. They also chose to use a little bit of patent leather on the wings up to the eyelets. I love my patent leather as much as the next person, simply because of the AJ XI, however white patent leather only stays white for so long. After awhile, yellowing starts to occur. That's the only downfall to this colorway. I love it, but how long will it look good. There's not much you can do to prevent the yellowing, unless you stick the shoe in a zip-lock bag and dead stock them, some discoloration will occur.

All in all though, a very hot sneaker. The release is a little more exclusive than some of the more recent releases, so make sure your sneaker shop is getting them. The 3M material makes this classic, a collector's must-have.

Lebron VII 2010 East All Star Edition

Lebron has ditched the Zoom Air technology used in his previous six shoes, and went with the Air Max 360 unit. The 360 Air Max unity holds 80% more air than the precious Air Zoom technology to maximize cushioning for the heavier athlete on the court.
The shoe also utilizes Nike's new flywire technology. The flywire technology, also present in the Kobe V I reviewed last week, is a new material that offers good stability while also maintaining a very light weight. The Lebron VII actually uses two layers of the flywire material to accomodate for more support for the heavier player, such as King James himself. With the use of flywire, Nike has successfully cut the weight of the shoe down. Lebron's have previously been known as a bulky, heavier shoe, but with the Lebron VII they have managed to make the shoe a little more lightweight than previous models.
Along with great technology and structure, comes style. This is my favorite Lebron to release so far. The design is great for on the court, and also off the court style. This All-Star edition shoe colorway is very eye-catching and jaw-dropping. This chlorine blue is one of the most popular colors of this spring. You are sure to catch people staring at these sneakers on your feet as you walk down the street.

Air Jordan Team 16.5

The Jordan 16.5 is a shoe I've been dying to discuss, not for style purposes, but specifically performance purposes. The 16.5, a collaboration of the Jordan XVI and XVII, was hyped up to be one of the most popular shoes of the season. But did it meet that hype? I don't think so.

At first glance when we got the shoe in, I was skeptical. I like how they made the shoe look, but they lapsed in technology on this one. The breathability of the sneaker is very minimal, and the way this shoe is built, most big guys down low would be wanting to wear this shoe. Big guys sweat even more, which means you need even more ventilation. Along with the factor of being a good shoe for your big man, the shoe does not tie very tight due to the large lace holes. Many big men have ankle issues, so good support out of a tightly laced up shoe is essential.

Despite these faults, the 16.5 was one of the best sellers out of our store for high school basketball players in the area, but many customers came back disappointed. A number of these shoes came back to us damaged. Within weeks, on several accounts, the shoe ripped out on the sides where the ventilation technology is placed. I know it is very common for a basketball shoe to rip out when put through a lot of play, but this defect occured in the exact same way on numerous 16.5s.

Air Jordan Spiz'ike

Today the Air Jordan Spiz'ike hit stores across the country. The Spizike is a sneaker that brings together two greats of the 90's, Michael Jordan and Spike Lee. Some of you may remember the commercials they did back in the day with Spike Lee as Mars Blackman. Is it the shoes? Gotta be the shoes. Or more recently, the legacy story commercial.

The shoe is a combination of all of the shoes in which Spike Lee was a part of the commercial ad campaign, AJ III, IV, V, VI, and XX. The AJ III inspired the cement print and the sole of the sneaker. The wing lace-lock system comes from the AJ IV. They took the AJ V's overall shape, netting, and ankle designs. The AJ VI contributes its unique tongue. And lastly, the laser print on the inside of the sneaker is from the XX.

Overall, I love this sneaker. But this is not my favorite colorway. If the shoe didn't have the blue added in, i think the colorway would have looked better. I'm not saying I don't like them, because let's all be honest, these kicks are ordered, and a few UPS stops away from my collection.

Nike Zoom Kobe V

The Nike Zoom Kobe V is the lightest basketball shoe to ever hit stores. Weighing in at 10.6 ounces, this sneaker is perfect for those quick, agile, guards. The shoe is so light, because Nike used similiar shoe technology they use in soccer cleats which are meant to be the very lightest. The new famous Nike technology of flywire, a very lightweight supportive material on the upper of the shoe, is even enhanced in the Kobe V to weigh half of what it typically does.
Once you slip this shoe on, you really can barely notice you have anything on your feet. The snug fit allows for some ankle support for sharp cuts, and quick moves. The shoe is neither narrow nor wide, so the average width foot fits perfectly- not to tight, but does not allow for your foot to slide around when jump-stopping.
With a bold LA Lakers colorway, at first some may be resistant. But pair these up with your authentic Kobe jersey, and you are sure to make your daily fashion statement.

Valentines Day Nike Air Force One

On Sunday, February 14th, countless women were sportin' the holiday kicks. A new Valentines Day Air Force One comes out every year, but in my eyes, this just may be one of the best. This eye-catching, candy red shoe is sure to make a statement.

My favorite element to this Nike Classic, is the stone-like print on the toe box. It catches the light really well, and gives off the shiny crisp look. I also love how they added a hint of gold. The metal AF-1 lace tag and the Nike Air tag on the tounge is also gold, to add flare to the shoe.

Simply put, this shoe would have been the best Valentines Day present for your girl. So remember next year, to go out and cop your girl a pair of the 2011 VDay AF1s.

Air Jordan 2010

Brand new to the sneaker world, is the Air Jordan 2010. The new legacy series Jordan hit shoe shelves this weekend on Saturday, February 13. Speaking for the shoe store I work at only, this release went very well. But for all those sneaker heads out there who didn't get a pair this weekend, there's still hope. The shoe has not sold out, so you should have no problem finding a pair for your collection.

The 2010 was created by Nike design legends, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith. Hatfield was the genius mind behind creations such as AJ III, AJ VIII, AJ XI, and AJ XIII, just to list a few of my favorites.

With a unique fit around the ankle, I have to give the shoe a high rating on fit and comfort. They used a memory foam liner to add cushion to the natural ankle cut of the shoe. The natural ankle cut also allows for good support.

The most interesting element to the 2010 is the see through circle on the upper of the shoe. Not only does it add to the breathability of the sneaker, it actually holds meaning. It was actually put there to symbolize Michael Jordan's ability to "see through" his opponents.

Overall, the 2010 is a sneaker expected to perform on the court, while also making a fashion statement.
